A trio of faded RS3s rolls westward past the iconic station in Mankato, MN. The exquisite model was scratch-built by Jeff Kraker.
Phase 2 of the Alco Line project is now complete. (Phase 1 was the cover story in the November issue of RMC). Phase 2 models Mankato and the regions just to the east and west. Join me as we take a photo tour of the latest progress updates.

Here is the track plan. Phase 2 is in the middle of the room.

After passing the station, and continuing westward, we pass the massive Hubbard Feeds elevator.

On another day, the local blocks a train in the Mankato yard. Main Street, and the downtown area, are to the right.

A train winds its way up grade through an S curve on the outskirts of town.

This stone arch bridge was scratch-built and is based on the prototype near New Ulm.

The west end of the yard in Mankato complete with yard office and tower.

The Milwaukee Road also passed through Mankato.

A back alley view of downtown Mankato.

One of the region's ubiquitous fuel dealers sits on the edge of town and provides some light switching opportunities.
